Fifa has awarded the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 tournament to Qatar.
Russia, which will host the event for the first time, beat England, Spain/Portugal and Holland/Belgium to win the race for the 2018 competition.
Qatar will stage the first World Cup in the Middle East having triumphed over the United States, Korea, Australia and Japan for 2022.
Both decisions were made following a secret ballot of Fifa's 22 executive members in Zurich.
