A takeover bid from a group represented by former Charlton Athletic chief executive Peter Varney has been accepted by current owner Richard Murray.
The club made the announcement on Thursday (December 2) and said the investor group was undertaking due diligence.
It added that a deal was likely to go through by December 24.
Mystery surrounds the identity of the group but fans will be reassured by the involvement of popular former chief executive Varney.
Murray took full control of Charlton from fellow directors through his group Baton 2010 in August.
