Castle Stuart near Inverness has been chosen to host the Scottish Open from July this year.
The event, one of the richest on European Tour, has been held at Loch Lomond since 1995 and takes place a week before The Open.
Castle Stuart only opened last year and winning the Scottish Open will be seen as a major coup for the area.
European Tour chief executive George O'Grady said the course was a fitting location for the event.
"It is always exciting to break new ground and everyone at the tour is delighted to be staging one of our most prestigious events at a new venue which has been so widely acclaimed," O'Grady added.
The prize fund remains at £3m, with a winner's cheque of £500,000.
The Scottish Open will be held from July 7-10 this year.
