Wayne Rooney's former management company has won permission to appeal against a £4.3m ruling in the player's favour.
Proactive Sports Management had claimed the Manchester United and England striker owed it 20 per cent commission for a number of multimillion-pound deals, but the case was dismissed last summer at Manchester's Mercantile Court.
Judge Brendan Hegarty QC ruled in July last year that the agreement between Proactive and Rooney for a 20 per cent commission was unenforceable.
However, at the court of appeal on Monday (February 7) Lord Justice Ward gave permission for the company to appeal.
"The mere fact that this was a claim for millions of pounds is almost in itself a compelling reason to give permission to appeal," he said.
