The Vietnamese media had the opportunity to participate in a working group in the lead-up to the 2009 3rd Asian Indoor Games which will be held in Vietnam.

Among the topics of discussion were accreditation, media services and broadcasting.

At the request of the Olympic Council of Asia, the Macao 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC) met with the Vietnam 2009 3rd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (VAIGOC) in the Vietnamese capital for exchanges and the sharing of the organizational experience.

The delegation was received by the Hanoi City Municipal Government representative, Director of Ha Noi Sport Department Nguyen Dinh Lan and Vietnam Olympic Committee 1st Vice President cum Secretary General Hoang Vinh Giang. The delegation also made a courtesy visit to the Standing Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Danh Thai.

Nguyen Danh Thai extended his gratitude to MAIGOC for its support and assistance to the organizing work for the 3rd Asian Indoor Games. "China, and especially Macao has always been a good friend of Vietnam," the Deputy Minister said, and added "Although Vietnam is not as developed as Macao, I look forward to the exchanges between the two, through which Vietnam can benefit from the learning and be better prepared for the Games. VAIGOC has already invited Mr Wei Jizhong as the special advisor for the 3rd Asian Indoor Games".

Manuel Silvério expressed that as part of the big family of the Olympic movement, he was honoured to have represented both the Macau Olympic Committee and MAIGOC in Vietnam. “As the organizer of three multisport events three years in a row, the Macao SAR is a fine example to follow. The three Games in a row have provided legacies that greatly benefit the hosting city which will be extended to the future, and I believe that the Games will benefit Vietnam as it has for Macao,” he said.

Manuel Silvério added he was glad that the experiences accumulated from the past few years, including the key of success in the various areas, can be shared with Vietnam. “The promotion of the Games and related educational work is significant. It should be, of course, supported with detailed plans and scales in order to succeed.” The Chairman ensured that MAIGOC will continue to provide assistance to VAIGOC, and hoped that on the solid foundation that was built, VAIGOC will continue to develop the Games.

During the visit to Hanoi, the two organizing committees held meetings which MAIGOC staff gave information on Accreditation, Competition, Hospitality, Marketing, Promotion, Cultural Events, Opening & Closing, Information Technology, Media Services and Television Broadcasting presented the overall work for the Games, its process and the technical operations. OCA Sports Committee Chairman Mr Wei Jizhong has also provided key advice to the preparations in the different areas for the Asian Indoor Games at the meetings.

Participants in the exchange activities included Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Trọng Hy and members of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Ministry for Planning and Research, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Public Safety and local media.

MAIGOC representatives included Directors Peter Ung, Isabel da Silva, Eric Chau, Sylvester Cheong, and Managers Kim Che and Candida Ramos.
