The 2010 World Cup is under the spotlight today at the International Media Forum South Africa where senior politicians and some of the world’s top editors will address issues relating to the tournament.
Representatives from the BBC, Aljazeera, Reuters and CNBC Africa are all attending the two-day event. ’Now more than ever - and particularly with the World Cup just around the corner - the picture that the world has of South Africa matters,’ said organiser Fergal Parkinson.
One of the panel discussions which will be chaired by radio personality John Perlman will discuss the question whether 2010 will end up as a lost opportunity for SA. The International Marketing Council is using the event to launch a new website providing information for journalists in the build-up to 2010.
