The UEFA president Michael Platini calls upon international football community to treat Ukraine and Poland with maximum assistance on their way of staging UEFA EURO 2012. He announced this during his stay in Italy on the occasion of unveiling a plaque to one of his predecessors as UEFA President, Dr Artemio Franchi.

Maximum assistance
According to Platini, it’s essential to make every endeavor to embody in life the UEFA Executive Committee’s decision that saw Ukraine and Poland as co-hosts of EURO 2012. In his opinion, these attempts should favor both states to stage the competition in the most magnificent way.

Italy out of the loop
Answering the question whether EURO 2012 could be relocated to Italy, Michael Platini ruled out such possibility. «Italy will apparently be set to host the tournament in 2016, − UEFA president admitted, proceeding that it would be more relevant as stadia on the Apennines aren’t the best, out-of-date and not very beautiful».

Executive Committee session in Bordeaux
The UEFA Executive Committee session was reported to take place in Bordeaux on September 25-26. Its members will be considering whether Ukraine and Poland are still eligible to go on with staging EURO 2012.
