The Sports Consultancy, an independently owned sports marketing agency, has been appointed by Edinburgh (a partnership between Edinburgh City Council and University of Edinburgh) to build relationships with National Olympic and Commonwealth Teams with a view to brokering pre-competition training camps for the City in the build up to London 2012 and Glasgow 2014.
This project follows on from an appointment earlier this year when Edinburgh briefed The Sports Consultancy to scope out their available facilities and services infrastructure to pull together innovative marketing materials to present the City’s world-class sports heritage.
Commenting on the instruction, the University of Edinburgh’s Director of Sport and Exercise, Jim Aitken said: “The Sports Consultancy has an excellent track record in major event strategy, bidding and implementation and we are delighted to be working with a team of real experts who are already demonstrating the value they can add.”
The Sports Consultancy’s Director, Robert Datnow added: “Edinburgh’s City Council and University have prepared well and by joining forces in an exciting partnership have created a world-class proposition to visiting National Olympic and Commonwealth teams. They understand the need to be proactive and the substantial potential legacies which hosting pre-competition training camps will have for the City”.
This appointment further cements The Sports Consultancy’s strong credentials in major event strategy and legacy planning, and brokering major pre-competition training camps and follows on from its work with Aspire at Aldershot, for whom The Sports Consultancy brokered the British Olympic Association’s TeamGB preparation camp for the London 2012 Olympic Games, which was announced earlier this year.
