As global television audiences eagerly await the Beijing 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremony and with it the biggest sports security operation in history, we are delighted to announce that Olympic Security expert Francesco Norante will address an audience of the world’s major sports events and industry suppliers at the forthcoming Sports Security Summit.
The Director of Security Integration for the Vancouver Organising Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the 5th Sports Security Summit which will take place in London on 13th November 2008.
Mr. Norante, who is responsible for the integration between Vancouver Organising Committee and Law Enforcement agencies for the 2010 Winter Olympics held a similar role as Head of Games Security for the Turin 2006 Olympics. He will join a programme of invited experts from LOC’s, police, government agencies and private security firms responsible for securing many of the world’s biggest sports events. Included are representatives from previous Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups including South Africa 2010, Euro 2008, London 2012, Commonwealth Games, Atos Origin, UNICRI and the Olympic Security Directorate.
Security is the cornerstone of every sports event and remains at the top of the agenda. Developing and implementing strategies to ensure the safety of participants and spectators has become a complex, technology-intensive, multi billion dollar business. Sports Security Summit 08 will explore the continuing challenges facing event owners, managers, promoters, their partners in local and national government as well as the intelligence and security services.
