The Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games has landed the biggest sponsorship deal in Asian Games history, with the signing of a RMB600 million-deal with Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group (GAIG), in April, said Gu Shiyang, Deputy Secretary General of GAGOC, at an OCA press conference in Beijing.
The Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, organizers of the 16th Asian Games, has also signed letters of intent with more than 10 other companies and would be pursuing more after the Beijing Olympics, he added.
As successive Asian Games achieve better and better results in terms of sponsorship, the Games brand itself is enhanced, said Gu.
Husain Al-Musallam, the OCA’s Director General also at the conference, said sponsors would be allowed to place their logos in and around Games Venues during the 15-day event.
The briefing was organized by the OCA to coincide with the Beijing Olympics and gave media the opportunity to hear about the latest developments regarding marketing of the Games.
