US Open and Nirmal Lifestyle enter partnership
 04/09/2008

The USTA today announced that Nirmal Lifestyle Limited, one of India’s leading real estate developers, will begin constructing a series of sports-themed “Lifestyle Cities” that will include US Open-branded housing enclaves and US Open-branded tennis facilities in select Indian cities beginning next year. This marks the first USTA real estate partnership anywhere in the world.

Through these 20 Lifestyle Cities, Nirmal intends to create an enhanced sports infrastructure in India, and the US Open will be the first partner in this unique initiative. Through this partnership, Nirmal and the USTA will develop US Open-branded housing enclaves and US Open-branded tennis facilities within the Lifestyle Cities. The ultimate goal of this new endeavor is to promote athletic and healthy lifestyles for Indian families.

The first Lifestyle City featuring US Open branded facilities will be constructed in Mumbai, with construction slated to begin next year. Following Mumbai, Nirmal Lifestyle will target the west coast city of Pune and the central Indian city of Indore. Nirmal Lifestyle plans to construct 20 Lifestyle Cities across the country which will include the US Open branded developments in each of them.

Nirmal Lifestyle has teamed with Total Sports Asia (TSA), the exclusive Asian television rights distributor of the US Open to 22 Asian nations, to bring the concept of a US Open residential lifestyle to India.

“The US Open brand stands for performance, quality and excitement.” said Pierce O’Neil, Chief Business Officer, USTA. “The USTA is excited to partner with Nirmal Lifestyle, one of the most respected real estate developers in India, to extend the reach of the US Open brand through this unique new partnership.”

“Our idea is to capture the essence of the US Open and turn that into a lifestyle experience,” said Dharmesh Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, Nirmal Lifestyle. “The US Open exemplifies the values and style of our visionary Nirmal Lifestyle housing communities.”

“We are honored to be working closely with one of India’s top property developers on a truly unique and first-of-its-kind project in India,” said Marcus Luer, Group CEO of Total Sports Asia. “Our close relationship with the USTA helped bring the two parties together in a very short period of time for the benefit of everyone involved.”
