The governing body of Dutch cricket, the KNCB, has a new CEO in the shape of former Netherlands and Somerset fast bowler André van Troost.

The thirty-five year old, who has spent the past five years working for Procter and Gamble as a Market Strategy and Planning Manager, will officially take over the KNCB role from Maarten Westermann on November 1st 2008.

A right-arm fast bowler van Troost represented his nation at ICC Trophy level between 1990 and 1997, taking 13 wickets in nine matches at the bowling average of 17.38. All together he played 34 times for The Netherlands between 1990 and 1997.

Van Troost played for Somerset for over eight seasons between 1991 and 1998 and in 1994-95 he played four matches for Griqualand West in South African provincial cricket. In 1995, whilst playing for Somerset, van Troost bowled a bouncer to West Indies captain Jimmy Adams, fracturing the batsman's cheekbone.

After his retirement from first-class cricket in 1999, following a back injury, Van Troost went on to complete two University degrees, a BA in Marketing Management and Exercise Sciences from the University of Gloucestershire and an MA in Marketing from the University of Birmingham, before taking up a position at Procter and Gamble.

Van Troost could not have joined the KNCB at a more crucial time. With the 2009 World Twenty20 Cup looming in June and the World Cup qualifiers taking place before that there is much at stake for the national side. And with the ICC offering a significant increase in funding to the KNCB in 2009, Van Troost will have a key role to play in the future of cricket development in the Netherlands.
