IEC in Sports has been appointed by World Tennis Challenge Pty Ltd to handle worldwide television distribution for the new World Tennis Challenge Open for the period 2009-2011.
The tournament is a team competition between the four top tennis playing countries of Australia, Sweden, USA and France, featuring one current player and one past legend player from each country.
World Tennis Challenge from January 14-16, 2009 in Adelaide has already confirmed Jim Courier (USA) Pat Cash (AUS) and Mats Wilander (SWE) to represent their countries as past legends. Thomas Johansson (SWE) and Paul-Henri Mathieu (FRA) have already indicated their intent on playing in Adelaide.
“We intend to make sure the World Tennis Challenge generates massive global media exposure” said Roger Rasheed, Tournament Director. “IEC in Sports will play a key part as our world class television production is distributed globally. “
“IEC intends to broaden the appeal of what is shaping up to be the biggest tennis event leading up to the Australian Open” said Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports. “Other enhancements include maximising the number of matches on the international feed, sourcing world-class English commentators and expanding live transmission across Australasia, Asia and into Europe and the Americas” added Persson.
