Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva launched Monday a massive tourism offensive designed to attract foreigners to visit Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian sights.
The program called "Brazil Sensational" was launched in New York and offers visitors the opportunity of experiencing different environments while visiting Brazil. The President said, "Brazil will be a key tourist destination in the world within the next 10 to 15 years".
He emphasized that the program will promote and support the Rio de Janeiro bid to host the 2016 Games and said, "all international actions of the Government are aligned with the Rio 2016 project. This is a priority of the Brazilian Government". He reaffirmed the Government's commitment to invest in infrastructure.
Meanwhile a senior Brazilian team has been sent to attend the Sixth World Forum on Sport, Education and Culture organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Metropolitan City of Busan South Korea taking place September 25-27.
Mario Cilenti, Director of International Relations, Rio 2016, part of the team said, "education and culture are pillars of Rio 2016's candidature. Taking part in the IOC World Forum is an excellent opportunity to learn and exchange ideas".
