Brazil means business as Soccerex announces new Forum for 2009

Soccerex announced a new two day event for next year – the Soccerex Brasilia Forum 2009. The business forum will take place on 18th March in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, the fastest growing economy in the world and host of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The Soccerex Brasilia Forum 2009 will be presented by Grupo Aguia, the leading tourism & travel services company in Brazil, in association with the Gauteng Provincial Government, hosts of Soccerex 2007-2009.

A senior Soccerex delegation travelled to Brazil last week, including Chairman, Tony Martin and CEO, Duncan Revie and the agreement was signed at a packed press conference in Brasilia that was attended by senior figures including:

Fabio Simão, President, Football Federation of Brasilia
José Roberto Arruda, Governor, Federal District of Brasilia
Wagner Abrahão, President, Grupo Aguia
Aguinaldo Silva de Oliveira, Secretary of Sport, Federal District of Brasilia
Ivor Hoff, CD of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gauteng Provincial Government

Speaking at the press conference, Soccerex CEO, Duncan Revie said:
“This is a fantastic day for Soccerex and for the whole of the football industry. We are very excited to be bringing the Soccerex brand to Brasilia and to be staging a forum in the home of the beautiful game. The event will provide a great opportunity to meet the key players in Brazil ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup”.

Wagner Abrahão, President, Grupo Aguia commented:
“We are proud to be partnering Soccerex in this venture. The Brasilia Forum will be very important to the football industry in our country and we expect it to provide valuable source of education and investment, both for the region and the country as a whole, as we start our preparations for the World Cup in 2014. We look forward to welcoming the global football industry in March 2009”.

The Soccerex Brasilia Forum 2009 will kick-off with an exclusive celebrity dinner on the 17th March. The business forum will take place on the 18th March comprising of a conference and exhibition. The event is expected to be attended by over 1000 senior industry professionals from Brazil and the rest of the world.

In preparation for the event, a large delegation from Brazil, including senior figures from the CBF and the Brasilia government plus representatives from all of the host cities for 2014 FIFA World Cup will be attending Soccerex 2008 in Gauteng Province, South Africa, 23 to 26 November. Soccerex 2008 will bring together 4000 delegates, 300 exhibitors from over 95 nations for 4days of learning, networking and business, under 1 roof in South Africa.
