New Government Decree Fast Tracks International Work Permissions for Russia's First Winter Games 20/10/2008 |

Sochi 2014 welcomed on Friday a faster and easier work permission system specifically designed to help non-Russian citizens work with Sochi 2014 in the lead up to and during the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The new system was established by a Russian Federal Government Decree (Decree No 758 issued on 13 October 2008) and means:
• Foreign citizens with an official employment contract with Sochi 2014, will, on the application of Sochi 2014 to the Federal Immigration Service, have their application for Work Permission finalised within 5 working days. If the application is not approved, then reasons must be given;
• The system is open to all nationalities;
• Contractors will not be subject to nationality based immigration quotas for international workers currently in place in Russia.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of Sochi 2014, said:
"We are in the process of assembling leading Russian and international professionals to join our Sochi 2014 team. This decree makes it easier and simpler for us to seek the best talent from across the world, setting a benchmark for future projects in Russia."
"The Games are a universal event and openly seeking expertise from all parts of the world will help us to achieve our vision of hosting the most innovative and inspirational Winter Games ever," - Chernyshenko added.
He continued, "This is another example of the faultless support from the Russian Government who are fully committed to Sochi 2014 as a priority national project.”
Additionally, the Russian Government has promised visa free entry to Russia for the Sochi 2014 Winter Games for accredited members of the Olympic Family, including the International Olympic Committee, athletes, media, International Sports Federations and National Olympic Committees.
