The 2010 Local Organising Committee is this week expected to select a director of communications to fill the position recently vacated by Tim Modise who returned to radio broadcasting today.
Over the past few days, Tumi Makgabo, who resigned from the same department in June and former SAA corporate communications manager Rich Mkhondo have applied for the position. There is also speculation that former English Football Association executive director David Davies has expressed an interest.
LOC chief executive Danny Jordaan said the organisation is ’looking for someone who is aware that the World Cup is a global event’. Meanwhile, the department has appointed Marisa Berndsen and Duncan Alfers to help promote its communications strategy.
