Nhan Dan - Vietnam is prompt in preparing for the third Asian Indoor Games schelduled to be held in two major cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces from November 2-11, 2009.
An indoor sports hall in My Dinh, Hanoi is under contruction. Other indoor stadiums like Quan Ngua, Soc Son, Trinh Hoai Duc, Hai Ba Trung, Cau Giay, Gia Lam, Tu Liem are also being upgraded to serve the event.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced the official logo, mascot and song for the Games.
The logo designed by Pham Tam from Ho Chi Minh City features a lotus petal stylised into a torch symbolising solidarity, friendship and co-operation. The official song is 'Let’s Light A Torch of Peace' written by young composers Duc Tan and An Hieu.
Voluntary activities will be organised to help athletes and visitors to the capital.
With the theme of 'A Rising Asia', the Asian Indoor Games 2009 will welcome 800 referees; 5,000 athletes and coaches from 45 countries and territories, participating in 44 events.
The Asian Indoor Games is a multi-sport event held every two years. The first two Games were held in Bangkok in 2005 and Macau in 2007.
