Mario Cilenti, one of the most experienced and best respected figures in international sports events, has joined the speaker line-up for Sports Event Management 2008 in London on 12th November.

Mario will draw on more than 15 years experience of events including the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games and four editions of the Pan American Games, to discuss the increasingly important contribution of sponsors in supplying the know-how, technology and services which help make events happen.

He will be joined on the panel by Sean Jefferson, CEO of MindShare Performance which advises brands involved in properties including the UEFA Champions League, and Dilbagh Gill of FIFA World Cup technology sponsors Satyam.

Mario Cilenti was Chief Operating Officer for the 2007 Pan American Games in Brazil, an event which is widely considered to have set the scene for Rio's bid to stage the 2016 Olympic Games.

Mario’s knowledge of the event industry has given him unique experience, clearly understanding the needs and requirements of the clients (Athletes) as well as the challenges and complexities of a Local Organising Committee.

After the completion of the successful Pan American Games, Mario continues to work directly for the Brazilian Olympic Committee, first as the Technical Director of the Rio 2016 Olympic Bid during the Applicant phase of the Bid, and now as Director of International Relations for Rio 2016 Candidate City.

Sports Event Management 2008 is the first of a trio of key sports industry events which take place at the Novotel St Pancras on 12th and 13th November. It is followed by the SportBusiness Sports Event Management Awards on the evening of the 12th and the 5th Sports Security Summit, which takes place the following day.
