Full details of the candidates for elections for the President and Vice-President of the International Sailing Federation, to be held in Madrid this November, are now available to view on the ISAF website www.sailing.org.

The elections for the Officers of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), that is the President and the seven Vice-Presidents, will take place at the ISAF General Assembly on 15 November, held in Madrid, Spain. The ISAF Officers are voted for by the Member National Authorities (MNAs), who represent their nation within ISAF. Officers are elected for a four-year term which will start on 16 November 2008 and end at the next General Assembly, to be held in November 2012. Full details of the eligible candidates, including biographies of each candidate and stated goals, are available to view via the link below or under the Election of Officers menu heading at www.sailing.org/generalassembly.

To be eligible as a candidate, a candidate must be nominated by five or more ISAF MNAs. At least two of the elected seven Vice-Presidents must be women. Full details of the rules governing the Election of ISAF Officers are covered in the ISAF Constitution – www.sailing.org/constitution – and the ISAF Regulations – www.sailing.org/regulations.

In addition to Election of Officers, at the General Assembly all members of the ISAF Council, the final decision-making body of ISAF, and the ISAF Committees, Sub-committees and Commission also retire. Council, Committees, Sub-committees and Commission members for 2009-2012 are nominated by ISAF MNAs.
