NBA set to deliver their product on the Net - globally
 06/11/2008

The National Basketball Association (NBA) Wednesday announced the launch of NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband International, a new subscription service offering fans in nearly 20 countries with access to a complete season of live NBA game webcasts on NBA.com.

Throughout the 82-game regular season, fans will have access to more than 40 live NBA games online each week. The service will be available to fans in Argentina , Australia , Brazil , Denmark , Finland , France , Germany , India , Israel , Italy , Japan , Mexico , Norway , Philippines , Russia , South Korea , Spain , Sweden and the United Kingdom .

Fans in these countries will be able to subscribe to NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband International through several different package options including Full Season, Monthly and Daily. Special pricing for the Full Season option is now available for $84.95 through Nov. 11.

All of the live NBA webcasts will feature play-by-play in English, and will be replayed on NBA.com for 24 hours after they air. Some blackouts of live games will apply.

“As the popularity of the NBA continues to grow around the world, NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband International is another great way for fans in these countries to experience the excitement of our game,” said Attila Gazdag, Senior Vice President of Global Media Distribution for the NBA. “ LEAGUE PASS is the perfect complement to our expansive television offering of NBA games and programming internationally and will allow fans to follow their favorite teams and players online, in addition to TV.”

The NBA has close to 30 international players who hail from these countries including the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki ( Germany ), San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker ( France ) and Manu Ginobili ( Argentina ), Milwaukee Bucks’ Andrew Bogut ( Australia ), Toronto Raptors’ Andrea Bargnani ( Italy ), New Jersey Nets’ Eduardo Najera ( Mexico ), Utah Jazz’s Andrei Kirilenko ( Russia ) and Chicago Bulls’ Luol Deng ( Great Britain ).

In the United States , NBA Digital recently announced that for the first time fans could subscribe to live NBA game webcasts this season directly on NBA.com with NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband. Previously, the service was only available to fans as an extension of NBA LEAGUE PASS , the regular season digital cable and satellite television package providing fans with NBA live games outside their local market.

Overall, the live game webcasts will add to the league’s global audience reach, as NBA games and programming this season will be televised in 215 countries and territories in 41 languages.
