Explosions In Sochi Ahead Of 2014 Games 13/11/2008 |

It was the sixth suspicious explosion to occur this year in and around Sochi, the site of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The latest one took place Tuesday just outside the city when a man lost his hand after finding a beer can on his car with explosives hidden inside, and attempted to throw it away.
Since April four people have died as a result of attacks, and two dozen have been injured, reports Russian media.
Regional police spokesman Andrei Kovalenko said, "so far we have not been able to link (the blasts) together".
Although the reasons behind the attacks are unclear, media sources report Russian police are investigating several possibilities, including terrorism, opponents of Sochi hosting the 2014 Winter Games, or criminality.
