UEFA awards media rights in Greece
 17/11/2008

UEFA has awarded all the media rights for the 2009-12 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League competitions in Greece.

UEFA Champions League
Leading free-to-air broadcasters Mega and ERT have each won a first-choice live match package in the UEFA Champions League. The Mega channel will show the first-choice live match on a Tuesday as well as a Tuesday night highlights programme. ERT will screen the first-choice live match on a Wednesday (including the UEFA Champions League final and the UEFA Super Cup), a Wednesday night highlights programme and the weekly magazine show on its NET channel.

Live and highlights
On Telecoms has won the rights for all the remaining live games in a UEFA Champions League matchweek. Matches will be broadcast on On Telecoms' IPTV platform along with a highlights package each matchday and the weekly magazine.

UEFA Europa League
For the UEFA Europa League, free-to-air broadcaster Antenna has gained the rights to show the first and second-choice live matches as well as highlights each matchweek. On Telecoms has been awarded a package of rights for the UEFA Europa League which includes all the remaining live games.

On web and on mobiles
From season 2009/10, football fans in Greece will also be able to follow the very best of European club football on the internet via each of the broadcasters' websites and on mobile. "Competitive offers for the various packages of rights available were received from several of the major broadcasters," said UEFA on Thursday, "and after the first round of the bidding process all the rights available have already been awarded.

Competition exposure
"We are delighted to announce these agreements in Greece," UEFA added. "For the UEFA Champions League, UEFA is renewing its successful partnership with ERT while welcoming back Mega to the competition. These deals will ensure fantastic free-to-air exposure for the competition in Greece and are complemented by our agreement with a new partner in the form of On Telecoms.

Exciting competition
"Similarly, the UEFA Europa League deal with Antenna will mean that fans in Greece will have excellent free-to-air access to this exciting competition in its revised format. UEFA is also pleased to be able to build on its new relationship with On Telecoms to show extensive coverage of the competition.

Fantastic job
"At the same time, UEFA wishes to thank Novasports, who will no longer be a UEFA Champions League broadcaster in Greece after season 2008/09. They have been a highly valued partner of UEFA and have done a fantastic job in broadcasting the UEFA Champions League." TEAM Marketing AG is the exclusive marketing agent of UEFA for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Europa League.
