Management consultants PMP have announced the appointment of their first Chief Executive, Graham Farrant.
Graham joins the company early in 2009 from Leisure Connection where he has been CEO for over four years. He will lead the day to day operation of the PMP business and in particular, will contribute to the consultancy’s work on major national and regional projects.
Prior to joining Leisure Connection, Graham was Chief Executive of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and his previous positions included Director of Housing at Birmingham City Council, Assistant Director of Environmental Services and CEO of Birmingham’s City Challenge regeneration company.
Executive Chairman Peter Mann commented “We are delighted to have recruited someone of Graham’s calibre to lead our business going forward. He is a highly respected leader in our sector and brings a wealth of relevant experience in both the public and private sectors. Graham will complement our existing strength in providing strategic leadership for local authorities, national sporting and governmental bodies and major sporting events. PMP is a market leader in these sectors and we believe that Graham’s appointment will consolidate our position at the forefront of these markets.
We have been working with executive search consultants Rockpools over the past nine months to identify the profile of our first CEO and to secure the best candidate. Graham’s selection reflects our ambition to appoint a CEO who has an in-depth understanding of the public and commercial sectors; has worked extensively with central government across a number of related areas – sport, health, environment and leisure; will provide intellectual rigour and vision; is ambitious, a strong empathetic leader and very highly respected throughout the leisure sector.”
Graham commented “I am delighted to be joining such a well established market leading management consultancy. This appointment will enable me to use to good effect the considerable experience I have gained across a number of relevant sectors and working with a range of organisations in the public and private sectors. I am looking forward to taking the company forward to help achieve our very ambitious plans for future growth and development in the sport, leisure and cultural arenas and related areas of health and education.”
