In a landmark sponsorship agreement Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd has become Official Supplier of UK Athletics Major Events for printers, copiers and faxes until September 2013. The agreement takes in UK Athletics participation in the London Olympics to be held in 2012.

As an Official Supplier, Konica Minolta will support UK Athletics at six televised athletics events a year (three indoor and three outdoor). This will commence with the Aviva International Match to be held in Glasgow at the end of January 2009, with coverage on BBC1 and BBC2. The Konica Minolta logo will be clearly visible at the finish line of all events, as well as trackside.

At the events Konica Minolta will supply UK Athletics with the latest high-speed bizhub multifunctionals for copying, printing, scanning and faxing. Konica Minolta bizhub document imaging systems will be provided both at event venues and also at the hotels used by UK Athletics.

The current Konica Minolta product line up ranges from an entry-level 5 ppm (print per minute) printer through to a 250 image per minute production print system for high-speed commercial print applications. Konica Minolta is a leader in growth market for colour multifunctionals with a dominant 30.5 per cent share of the UK digital colour copier market (not including colour capable systems) according to InfoSource. In Europe overall, Konica Minolta is a market leader in true colour.

Commenting on the sponsorship agreement, John Howard, Head of UK Marketing for Konica Minolta said, “The UK Athletics Official Supplier agreement is a great partnership agreement for Konica Minolta. It guarantees us maximum brand exposure in the period leading up to the London Olympics, which will certainly be the most significant sporting event for Britain in the new decade. But it is also an excellent opportunity for the entire five year duration of the contract to associate Konica Minolta’s brand values with British sporting success and pride.”
