The IAAF confirmed that “Eurosport Deutschland”, the German language channel of Europe’s largest cable and satellite sports broadcaster Eurosport, has agreed a deal to cover the next ÅF Golden League season and ensure coverage of the top level of IAAF 1 day meetings in Germany, where the next edition of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics takes place later this year.
Following an agreement with IMG Media, who handle the IAAF’s international sports marketing rights for this property, Eurosport Germany will show coverage of the events in Oslo, Rome, Paris, Zurich and Brussels plus delayed coverage of the DKB-ISTAF in Berlin (already live in Germany on ZDF/ARD).
Eurosport plan to use their Golden League coverage to help promote coverage of the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Athletics which they plan to show live in more than 50 countries and in 20 languages.
The 2009 ÅF Golden League season begins with the Berlin meeting on 14 June and concludes in Brussels on 4 September.
