UEFA delegation in Ukraine

On Monday, February 2, official UEFA delegation, led by General Secretary David Taylor, left for a four-day visit to Ukraine.

Trip around Ukraine
The inspection group, featuring Martin Kallen, the director of EURO 2012 UEFA Department, UEFA Commercial Director Philippe Margraff, Alan Ridley of UEFA Sponsorship and Event Promotion Committee are due to visit five Ukrainian cities − Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Lviv. The honored guests will be accompanied by vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasyunyk and FFU President Grigoriy Surkis. We remind that in October 2008 David Taylor has already paid a visit to Donetsk.

Start in Kyiv
The UEFA inspectors launch their visit with a trip around Kyiv. Their schedule is marked with the following objects as Boryspil airport, NSC Olympiyskiy, Central railway terminal and Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the place of official UEFA fan zone. The inspectors also plan to have a meeting with Kyiv mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy and Minister for Family, Youth and Sports Yuriy Pavlenko.

Kharkiv program
The same day a joint delegation of members from UEFA, Cabinet of Ministers and FFU are going to have a night flight to Kharkiv, where next day they will have a look at the downtown, Metalist stadium, South railway terminal and airport. The meetings with city officials are scheduled as well.

Proposition from Dnipropetrovsk
On Tuesday, February 3, an official delegation is to visit one city of EURO 2012 more. It will be Dnipropetrovsk. Besides traditional visits to the airport, stadium and railway station the inspectors will visit hotel entertaining complex Bartolomeo, two fan zones (near the ‘Dnipro-Arena’ and festival berth) and VIP zone for UEFA. Of course, the meetings with Dnipropetrovsk mayor Ivan Kulichenko and with regional board head Victor Bondar are also in the program of visit of UEFA inspectors.

Visit to the sea
At the same day an inspection group is to go to Odesa were a city center has to be reviewed in the evening. On the next day they will visit the stadium in Taras Shevchenko’s park and Kulikov’s field where it is planned to locate a fan zone. Besides these the guests plan to meet mayor Eduard Gurvits and a governor Mykola Serdyuk and also to acquaint themselves with railway station presentation, airport reconstruction presentation and to fly to Lviv.

Last stop in Lviv
In Lviv UEFA delegation will traditionally inspect the course of airport reconstruction, the work of railway station, stadium building and will meet with the leaders of the region such as mayor Andriy Sadoviy and regional state administration head Mykola Kmyt. Besides these the guests will have a reach cultural program. In particular they will observe numerous Lviv’s historical monuments and visit Opera house. On Thursday, February 5, UEFA delegation will fly to Krakow. We should remind that this visit is one of the main stages of inspecting of Ukraine’s preparing for EURO 2012 in the result of which maximum four Ukrainian cities-holders of the matches of the tournament will be defined already in May.
