The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics today announced it has reached an agreement with IMG College, a division of IMG Worldwide, for a 12-year multi-media rights partnership worth more than $30 million in guaranteed payments to the University. The new deal goes into effect July 1, 2009.
The UC Department of Athletics will also derive additional financial benefits as IMG College will be responsible for a portion of the unit’s operating expenses in support of marketing and corporate sponsorships.
“Partnering with IMG College at this point in our athletics evolution is a bold and exciting move,” said Mike Thomas, UC’s Director of Athletics. “UC and IMG are poised to move aggressively in maximizing the Bearcats’ brand, and we are confident that this partnership will foster new opportunities for the continued growth of our University, for our friends in the corporate sector, and of course, for a positive impact on all of our student-athletes and fans of UC Athletics.”
Under terms of the agreement, IMG College will manage and market all rights associated with corporate sponsorships, signage, on-site marketing opportunities, publishing rights, future website sales and management, coaches’ endorsements, and game day hospitality.
Additionally, the agreement covers all game day radio broadcasts for football and basketball regular and post-season play, football and basketball coaches’ radio shows and television rights, along with other mutually agreed upon radio broadcast and television rights for various other sports.
“The University of Cincinnati has done an excellent job in creating a top notch athletic program,” said Tom Stultz, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for IMG College. “It is an honor to work with the University, and we look forward to developing its multi-media rights program using the global resources of IMG College.”
