Global sports and entertainment company IMG today announced it has appointed Sam Zussman as managing director of IMG Academies, the world's largest and most successful multi-sport, training and education academy. The decision is part of IMG's overall commitment to IMG Academies to focus on their world-renowned sports programs, infrastructure and
facilities.
Nick Bollettieri, the founder and President of IMG Academies, said, "IMG has given me the freedom to run the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (NBTA) with one goal in mind, to be the best. There is no second-best in my vocabulary. I have spent significant time with Sam over the past year and his commitment to the core values of the Academies rivals my own. I believe he will make a great contribution to the future success of the Academies and I look forward to working with him, with that goal in mind."
In making the announcement, George Pyne, President of IMG Sports and Entertainment, said, "Sam has been working with IMG Academies for the past year to develop and implement a strategy for future growth that focuses on the company's core business of sports training and education. Under Sam's direction we have already seen operating improvements and efficiencies at the academies."
Zussman added, "IMG Academies is a unique place where champions are made and young adults have an opportunity to develop physically and mentally. In addition, it serves as a home base to many of IMG's elite clients as well as an important asset to the company. IMG Academies has a commitment to every student and customer to provide the means to allow them to be the best they can be and help them achieve their dreams and aspirations. This is a responsibility I take very seriously. I am looking forward to working with the talented staff that has made IMG Academies the world-class facility it is today."
Zussman joined IMG in 2006 and has served as vice president of business operations reporting directly to George Pyne, President of IMG Sports and Entertainment. Prior to joining IMG, he worked at McKinsey & Company for five years in New York. Zussman holds a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University.
