BUSINESSES are already clamouring to get their hands on business suites at the Nelson Mandela Bay multi-purpose stadium, but will have to wait until a stadium operator is appointed before they can buy the suites.
“There are already a lot of people and businesses inquiring about business suites, but the suites are not available until a stadium operator is appointed. No suites can yet be put on the market,” said project manager Gerrie Albertyn.
The Nelson Mandela Bay 2010 directorate and the municipality are reviewing and interviewing possible candidates for stadium operator. This should be finalised next month.
Albertyn said 24 of the 40 suites at the stadium for the 2010 World Cup had already been completed.
“The suites will be able to accommodate 24 people,” he said.
The number of suites is likely to be increased after the World Cup tournament, as about 4000 seats on the upper level will be removed to make way for other developments at the stadium.
“The upper level will be revamped as the seats are taken out after the World Cup to make way for either more offices or adding more suites.
This, however, will be a decision for the stadium operator to make. Not everything has been partitioned. Everything will be up to the stadium operator,” Albertyn said.
The prices and the date from which businesses can purchase suites are not yet known.
