XP Events joins Vancouver 2010 licensee program
 19/02/2009

The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) welcomed XP Events to its Official Licensee Program as the retail concessionaire service provider.

The company will design, build, staff and operate retail concessions at all competition and non-competition venues from the start of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games on February 12, 2010 to March 21, 2010, when the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games will draw to a close. XP Events will operate over 60 retail kiosks at 15 indoor and outdoor venues. Over 250 part-time staff will be recruited locally to run the retail operations.

“We’re pleased to partner with an industry leader known for creating some of the most compelling in-venue retail shopping spaces in the international sporting and entertainment event industry,” said Dennis Kim, VANOC director of licensing and merchandising. “Their expertise will help add to the overall experience of spectators enjoying the Games.”

“XP Events, like the other businesses who have partnered with Vancouver 2010, recognize the high value of the 2010 brand. Sales have been very strong for our licensee program to date and we look forward to building a mutually beneficial partnership with them,” Kim continued.

XP Events’ clients include leading sports and entertainment organizations and events across the globe, including: FC Barcelona Tour 2008, 2008 IIHF World Hockey Championships, FIFA U-20 World Cup 2007, FIFA Women’s World Cup China 2007, Tour de France London Stages 2007, Grey Cup 2006 and the NBA All Star-Game in 2007, 2008 and 2009 — held this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona.

XP Events will work closely with up to 41 other Vancouver 2010 licensee holders including the Hudson’s Bay Company — a Premier National Partner.

The sale of Vancouver 2010 official licensed products contributes directly to Games revenue, which supports the financing and staging of the 2010 Winter Games. In addition to 400 Hudson’s Bay Company stores, currently more than 1,100 retail stores across Canada carry officially licensed Vancouver 2010 merchandise.
