Football fans entering the ballot for FIFA 2010 World Cup tickets, are being reassured that they will be able to purchase all other elements of their travel needs for the tournament whether they are successful in the ballot or not.
Thomas Cook Sport, a participating tour operator for FIFA 2010, has confirmed that it can offer travel only packages to fans who are successful in the World Cup ballot, which opened on Friday.
In most instances, travel packages through official operators must include the purchase of official tickets but Danny Talbot, Managing Director of Thomas Cook Sport, said today that fans with ballot tickets would be eligible to purchase any travel package from flight only options to fully-escorted tours.
“We want fans to have the best experience possible in South Africa so we are delighted to be able to offer them other travel options, whether they want to travel independently or join a group.”
Thomas Cook Sport were appointed as a participating tour operator for the FIFA World Cup in January and will operate tours from the UK, Germany, France, The Netherlands and Sweden.
The FIFA 2010 World Cup ballot opened today with an initial 740,000 tickets available for purchase. Fans have until 31 March to register their interest.
Thomas Cook Sport FIFA 2010 packages are expected to be on sale in Summer 2009.
