FIFA appoints SPORTFIVE as exclusive agent for fixed media rights 25/02/2009

The FIFA World Cup™ creates massive global demand and interest from football fans for as they follow their national teams and the best players on the planet. Before the first ball is kicked and long after the final whistle, fans want match action, highlights and behind-the -scenes footage about the tournament and their favourites.
Now for the first time, FIFA has entered into a four-year co-operation with SPORTFIVE, the international sports marketing company, for the worldwide distribution of "fixed media rights" to FIFA events, with the 2010 FIFA Football World Cup South Africa™ being a particular key feature of the package.
SPORTFIVE will act as the exclusive agent for FIFA events' fixed media rights, and plans to combine those rights with their comprehensive portfolio of qualifying match rights. As a result, football fans worldwide will benefit from new and unique products featuring the qualification matches of their national teams "on the road to South Africa" as well as the best of the final tournament.

Scope of fixed media rights: Magnetic, digital and electronic storage devices, including, but not limited to, VHSs, HVS, DVDs, Blue-ray DVDs, HD-DVDs, CD-Roms, memory sticks (including Memory Sticks, SD Memory Cards) , PSPs and laser discs.
