Live African Football on the Web for the very first time!
 26/02/2009

SPORTFIVE, the exclusive agent for the marketing and media rights to the Confédération Africaine de Football's (CAF) main competitions up until 2016, has launched a digital platform at www.myafricanfootball.com. This unique concept will be the only website to offer official videos for the most important African competitions and will include content from both the past and the present. The platform is already positioning itself as the worldwide online reference for African football.

The website is 100% dedicated to African football and will allow fans from all over the world to view matches from the major competitions organised by the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), whether live, delayed (same day - according to the geographical zone) or on-demand.

- CAF Africa Cup of Nations (CAN)
- CAF Champions League
- CAF Confederation Cup
- CAF African Youth Championship (Under 20)
- CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) - a new competition open to local players currently participating in the domestic national championship in their respective country and of which first edition takes place in the Côte d’Ivoire between 22nd February and 8th March 2009
2010 African Qualifiers

This launch follows the success of www.ghana2008.tv, a digital platform created by SPORTFIVE for the MTN Africa Cup of Nations Ghana in 2008. From January to February 2008, around 300 000 web users visited the site, generating more than 500 000 videos sessions.

Since February 22nd 2009, African football fans have been able to immerse themselves in the live action at the CHAN 2009 and follow the results of the 8 teams which have qualified for the final phase (Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Libya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe).

As part of its launch, the website is proposing a "Discovery Package", offering all matches for free during a 10-day period. Three different types of pay packages will subsequently be made available, offering the chance to purchase a "Viewing Pass" per match, month or year. Each pass will also include a large amount of archived material free of charge. www.myafricanfootball.com will offer rich editorial content for all CAF competitions, with an additional option of accessing content via mobile phone coming soon.

CAF President Issa Hayatou expressed his delight on behalf of the CAF and the entire African football community: "In addition to helping convey a dynamic and innovative image of football in Africa and giving many fans access to important football competitions, My African Football actively supports the CAF in its desire to make African football shine on a worldwide scale."

Idriss Akki, Senior Vice President of SPORTFIVE, adds: "We are doing our best to give all CAF competitions the place they deserve on the international stage. Thanks to this unique website, SPORTFIVE is able to demonstrate its ambition to develop innovative strategies in the New Media sector, something which has become crucial in the exploitation of sports rights".
