As Brazil starts its preparation for 2014, their stadiums and their future development will come under the global spotlight. The Soccerex Brasilia Forum will be the first time the international stadia community and local key industry figures convene in Brazil. As Soccerex.com recently revealed, the Brazilian government has secured a fund in excess of USD$40 billion that is set to be allocated to integral infrastructure developments prior to 2014. This will no doubt be used to improve stadia and source international expertise.

Soccerex have assembled a panel of internationally renowned stadium experts to share and engage with their Brazilian counterparts and other industry figures. This exclusive session sponsored by HBM Stadia is entitled ‘Stadia 360’ and will feature industry leaders from HBM Stadia, HOK Sport, Aedas Sport and Brazil LOC 2014.

Heading up the panel is Steven Wilbrenninck (Director, HBM Stadia). Recognised as leaders in stadia construction, the German based company constructed two of the 2006 FIFA World Cup stadia and have been working on the FNB Stadium Johannesburg and Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in South Africa ahead of 2010. When asked about his participation, Steven commented:

“As a global leader in our field, with experiences in constructing stadia for two World Cups, the Soccerex Brasilia Forum is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with the key decision makers in Brazil ahead of 2014”.

Accompanying HBM Stadia on this panel is Christopher Lee (Senior Principal of HOK Sport). Christopher has worked on a range of projects including the ANZ Stadium for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Munich Olympic Stadium. He was more recently the Design Director for the Emirates Stadium in London and the Lansdowne Road Stadium in Dublin.

Also sharing his thoughts on the latest innovations in stadia design is Dan Meis (Principal, AedasSport). Originally a founding member and design partner of NBBJ Sports and Entertainment, he currently works for Aedas LA, one of the world’s foremost designers of sports, entertainment, and exhibition venues. He is one of the most respected sports venue architects in North America. Completing this panel is Carlos De La Corte (Stadia Consultant for LOC 2014) as a local expert in the Brazilian market he is in the position to outline the needs and aspirations of the Brazilian 2014 LOC ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The Soccerex Brasilia Forum (17 - 18 March) will also cover player development issues and the wide range of business opportunities that are available in Brazil ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This two day event will be the first time the international football business community has gathered in Brazil and will provide a unique window into the football industry in the home of the beautiful game.
