Kangaroo Media and PGA TOUR partner for enhanced onsite fan experience
 10/03/2009

Kangaroo Media and the PGA TOUR announced on Monday the signing of a four-year agreement to provide golf spectators attending select TOUR events with the ultimate personalized multimedia experience. Using the Kangaroo TV hand-held device, spectators at featured PGA TOUR events will be able to access an array of real-time video, audio, comprehensive tournament and player data, as well as course layouts.

The agreement, which runs through 2012, will pave the way for Kangaroo TV to offer its handheld TV to PGA TOUR spectators at no less than 50 events over the four-year period, including five in 2009. Daily, weekly and weekend rental options will be available.

Users of this device will have the best of both worlds -- they will be able to experience the on-site drama and excitement of watching the best players in the world, while having the opportunity to tap into the rich live video coverage, high-quality video clips and comprehensive data feeds that are typically characteristic of TV viewing. The device enables fans to personalize their viewing; get on-demand updates on key players, the leaders' scorecards and see the most up-to-date leaderboard at the touch of a key.

"We tested Kangaroo TV at THE PLAYERS Championship in May 2008 and found the device to be particularly well suited to the sport of golf and to our spectator profile," said Paul Johnson, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President, New Media. "Given the number of golfers and the large course area our spectators have to cover to follow the action, the Kangaroo TV product can deliver the unseen action, tournament stats and exclusive PGA TOUR video footage and statistical content to make our fans' on-site experience truly unique. Without a doubt, the Kangaroo device brings our fans much closer to the game and puts every player and every fairway within their scope."

"Our collaboration with the TOUR for THE PLAYERS Championship last year not only demonstrated the power and the appeal of our product, but it also provided us with the insight to continue to enrich the fan experience and to tailor our service offering so it closely aligns with sponsor and tournament needs and provides us with the opportunity for multiple revenue sources," said Robert Mimeault, President and CEO of Kangaroo Media. "As we continue to expand our product offering to other sports venues and their sponsors, this four-year agreement with PGA TOUR is a key milestone."
