Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the nation’s second-biggest lender, extended its sponsorship of Cricket Australia to June 30, 2011. Terms weren’t disclosed.
Commonwealth Bank will continue as naming sponsor for one- day international matches played in Australia as well as being the Australia team’s main sponsor during those games.
“We’re very proud of our long-standing association with cricket over the past 22 years,’’ Ralph Norris, Commonwealth Bank’s chief executive officer, said in a statement issued with Cricket Australia. “Through our strong branch network, we are determined to bring cricket to communities around Australia.”
Commonwealth Bank said last month that bad debts rose almost five-fold to A$1.6 billion ($1.04 billion) in the first half on loans to failed companies.
