Global digital sport and entertainment specialist Perform and Virgin Media, the leading UK entertainment and communications company, announced that e-Player streamed a record 24.6 million premium sports videos in February and reached over 6 million unique users, confirming its position as the UK’s leading commercial online sports video network.

The free-to-view, multi-channel web TV player currently syndicates premium sports highlights to over 130 websites including major UK publisher groups News International, Trinity Mirror Group, Daily Mail Media Group, Telegraph Media Group and Guardian News and Media Ltd.

The e-Player’s 22 sports channels include highlights from Virgin Media’s Barclays Premier League and Coca-Cola Football League content as well as a range of additional premium sports content from Perform’s rights portfolio including leading European, Asian and South American club football, international football including FIFA World Cup qualifiers, RBS Six Nations rugby, PDC darts and much more, all available on demand.

Oliver Slipper, joint-CEO, Perform said: “We have been leading the way in syndicating premium video content through our e-Player technology and these results position Perform as one of the leading providers of online content in the UK, providing an absolutely proven option for advertisers to reach a large an engaged audience.”

Alex Green, executive director of Online at Virgin Media said: “e-Player offers access to the largest selection of premium, on demand sports content available on the web and it’s proving to be a great success for consumers, digital publishers and advertisers.”

Pre and post-roll video advertising for e-Player is sold by ids and the network forms a key part of the market leading Online Video Alliance (OVA), a sub-brand of advertising solutions company, ids, which aggregates quality online video inventory to provide scale for advertisers such as EA Sports, who recently announced a major sponsorship deal around football content across the OVA network.
