Taj Television Ltd, which runs Ten Sports, has elevated Peter Hutton to the role of COO while chief executive Chris McDonald has stepped down.

Hutton, currently senior vice president of programming and production, will get to wear his new hat from 1 May. McDonald, who has cited personal reasons for relinquishing his post, will move into an advisory role effective end-April.

Hutton will be consulting with a sub-committee of directors - Himanshu Mody from the Zee side and Dr Bhaskar Banerjee representing Bukhatir Investments Ltd.

"There is no change in the shareholding. Both Zee and Bukhatir continue to hold equal stake in the company," said a senior executive.

While McDonald served Taj TV as CEO right from inception, Hutton joined the company in early 2002. Prior to Taj TV, Hutton served as IMG/TWI’s co-head for South Asia.

Ten Sports televises cricket from West Indies, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai throughout the Indian sub-continent and Asia, as well as to the United States and Canada (Cricket Plus), Continental Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. It also owns the exclusive rights in its sub-continent territories for the WWE, the UEFA Champions League and US Open tennis.
