European football teams may have to pay a tax on their star players that would be distributed to poorer clubs under a plan being considered by the Union of European Football Associations, the Financial Times reported.
The tax would be introduced to redistribute wealth in a sport dominated by a few teams, the FT said. William Gaillard, a UEFA spokesman, said imposing a luxury tax and squad limits were ideas that may work, the newspaper said.
