Ricardo Teixeira joins over 800 football industry executives at Soccerex Brasilia Forum
 24/03/2009

The inaugural Soccerex Brasilia Forum was declared a great success as over 800 delegates from 40 different countries flocked to the Brazilian capital on 17th and 18th March, including Ricardo Teixeira, the head of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

Teixeira was joined by footballing legends such as Carlos Alberto Torres, Jairzinho and Eusebio, senior government officials including Brazilian Sports Minister, Orlando Silva, representatives from all 20 of the top flight Brazilian clubs and a wide range of delegates from industries such as stadia development, financial services and sports marketing.

Delegates were treated to two days of networking and conference panels where subjects included a presentation on the development of FC Barcelona, by former CMO Esteve Calzada and a session dedicated to “Finding the Next Kaka” which included Kaka’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Diogo Kotscho and former World Cup Winner, Bebeto.

The event drew great support from the media, particularly in Brazil, with 118 media accredited from 30 different companies including Brazilian broadcasters TV Globo, SporTV and TV Record who all made live broadcasts from the event – 23 in total and leading Brazilian publishers Folha de Sao Paulo and LANCE!. Internationally, AFP, Associated Press and the Daily Telegraph all attended.

Speaking about the event, Soccerex Marketing Director, David Wright commented:

“The Brasilia Forum was a great success and exceeded all our expectations. The passion for football in Brazil is so strong but there is room for growth commercially, particularly as they start to build up to the 2014 FIFA World. Our objective was to provide the first opportunity for the Brazilian football industry to get together and network with the international community and judging by the attendance and the feedback we have received so far, our objective was successfully met.”

The next Soccerex event is the London Forum on 13th May 2009 at Wembley Stadium. For more information on Europe’s Premier Football Business Event please go towww.soccerex.com/london.
