MP & Silva, a leading international sports agency, and Juventus Football Club S.p.A. have announced today that Chinese and Japanese fans of the Turin-based club can now follow the fortunes of their favourite football club through the newly launched official Chinese website (juventus.espnstar.com.cn), Chinese online store, JuveStore (cn.juvestore.com), and Japanese mobile site.
The localised new media projects will allow Juventus’ Asian fans to support their favourite football club through regular news updates, download the latest multimedia content, including exclusive highlights and interviews and interact with the other fans. These projects are part of Juventus’ internationalisation strategy, which will see MP & Silva launch a slew of services, which include official internet portals in Japan and Indonesia, mobile sites in China and Indonesia, an official club membership in China, and an official JuveStore in Japan within the next months.
Asian football fans will also be able to get the latest news and track the progress of Yang Yun, the young talented footballer who impressed Claudio Ranieri during Juventus’ Asia-Pacific tour organised by MP & Silva last year. Yang, a 20-year-old defender with Chinese Super League (CSL) side, Shanghai Shenhua, will join today for a two-week stint with the Turin-based giants.
“MP & Silva conducted market analysis and has chosen the platforms (online portal and mobile sites) in accordance to the preferred modes of news consumption of the Chinese and Japanese audiences – mobile is hugely popular in Japan with over 110 million subscribers, who tend to prefer to access information on the go, while the internet remains to be Chinese’ most preferred mode of reading news, considering that both internet user base and penetration is well over 20 percent year-on-year,” said Peter Leible, Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, MP & Silva. “Through these strategically selected platforms and local partners, we are confident that Juventus is not only well-positioned to consolidate and build their fan base, but these sites will form an important way for the club to reach out to their existing as well as attracting new fans.”
“Fundamentally, these projects represent an important step forward for the club as we leverage on the success of our tour across Asia-Pacific from last year,” said Marco Fassone, Juventus Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Juventus F.C. “We have a huge and growing fanbase in Asia, and while we would like to meet our Asian fans on a more regular basis, the newly launched media platforms are important channels for us to engage them daily, even from the farthest corners of the world.”
