Wimbledon will make an additional 59.5 million pounds ($87.2 million) from increasing seating in its refurbished Centre Court.
The All England Lawn Tennis Ground Plc, which owns the grounds of the world’s only grass-court Grand Slam event, will issue up to 2,500 so-called Centre Court debenture tickets, at a price of 27,750 pounds each for 2011-2015, it said in an e- mailed statement.
The debenture gives the right to a reserved seat on Centre Court for every day of the tournament in the five-year period. The Wimbledon championships, which will be held June 22 through July 5, will for the first time in its history be played with a retractable roof over Centre Court.
