Telewizja Polska signs first EURO 2012 rights deal
 03/04/2009

UEFA and Telewizja Polska SA (TVP) have announced an exclusive agreement for the broadcasting rights of UEFA EURO 2012™ in Poland. The agreement is the first following the tender process in respect of the European media rights to UEFA EURO 2012™, which was launched on 6 February.

Finals and their build-up
TVP will provide extensive coverage of the matches during the tournament via live coverage and highlights programmes for all 31 UEFA EURO 2012™ games, on its free-to-air and pay-television channels TVP 1, TVP 2, TVP SPORT and TVP HD, as well as on its website, tvp.pl. In addition, TVP will also offer a wide promotion of the UEFA European Championship in the run-up to the final tournament via the broadcast of dedicated magazine and other programmes. The finals take place in Poland and Ukraine in June 2012.

'Unique viewing experience'
Commenting on the agreement, UEFA General Secretary David Taylor said: "UEFA is delighted to welcome TVP as the first member of the exclusive group of UEFA EURO 2012™ official broadcasters. TVP is a leading broadcaster in Poland and UEFA is looking forward to developing together with TVP a unique viewing experience for the Polish audience. To have a broadcast partner in place in one of the host countries at such an early stage will be highly beneficial for the promotion of the tournament.

Strong interest
"The quality of the offer submitted by TVP allowed a very quick process," Mr Taylor added. "In view of the strong interest generated by the UEFA European Football Championship, we are looking forward to concluding further agreements in the near future."
