Sochi 2014 President and CEO, Dmitry Chernyshenko, held a roundtable discussion with a delegation of Italian business representatives as part of a visit by the Italian Business Mission - headed by Italy’s Minister of Economic Development, Claudio Skayola. The session explored the unique opportunities for international companies on offer through Russia’s first ever Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Several of the companies represented have extensive Olympic experience through acting as official suppliers to Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Turin 2006 and Beijing 2008. Sochi 2014 experts therefore participated in a session dedicated to the 2014 Games and how the knowledge acquired by Italian companies could enhance preparations for them.
The delegation will spend two days in Krasnodar – the capital of Russia’s Olympic region – discussing opportunities ranging from engineering and construction to telecommunications, and meeting with members of the Krasnodar regional government to explore potential future collaboration.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, Sochi 2014 President and CEO, said:
“First of all, I want to thank the representatives of Italian business for their huge interest in Russia’s first ever Winter Games. Soch 2014 is a priority project for the Government of Russia, and continues to receive huge interest from private enterprise in Russia and internationally.
Commercial partners of Sochi 2014 will see unique benefits through the Games; from, strengthened market position and platforms for innovation, to the opportunity to help shape the economic future of perhaps the most dynamically developing region of Russia.”
The visit has been arranged in conjunction with the Italian Embassy in Russia.
