TSC in Host Port Agreement with Volvo Ocean Race
 15/04/2009

The Sports Consultancy, an independently owned sports marketing agency, has been appointed by Volvo Event Management UK (VEMUK), organisers of the Volvo Ocean Race, to manage the host port procurement process for the 2011 - 2012 event.

Having worked on both the current and 2005-2006 editions of the race, the Sports Consultancy’s brief is to deliver a route for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011 - 2012 that meets the event’s sporting and commercial requirements; encompassing all aspects of port procurement from initiating expressions of interest through to concluding contracts with host ports.

Commenting on the appointment, The Sports Consultancy Director, Angus Buchanan said: “We are really delighted to be working with Volvo Ocean Race again for the next event on an expanded brief to deliver a complete route for the event. We believe our long experience of host city bidding combined with our unique blend of commercial and legal expertise will help us deliver really successful host city partnerships for the event.”

Knut Frostad, CEO, VEMUK added: “The Sports Consultancy has a strong heritage in all commercial aspects of international sailing as well as a great track record of delivering successful host city partnerships. I am confident they will deliver a first class route for the 2011/12 Volvo Ocean Race.

The Volvo Ocean Race is going from strength to strength, continually evolving to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding and changing global audience and we believe that host ports play a key role in this process.”
