NBA.com to webcast Playoffs and finals to fans in Europe for the first time 21/04/2009

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that for the first time, live game webcasts of the entire NBA Playoffs and The Finals will be available to fans in Europe via NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband International on NBA.com and NBA.tv.
Overall, NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband International will be offered in 100 countries and territories, the most extensive international offering of live NBA games online. Fans will also have the unique opportunity to watch the live game webcasts in high-definition (HD).
During the Playoffs, fans throughout Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the Asia Pacific region will be able to subscribe to either a Standard Package for $29.95 (£18.43) or a Premium Package, offering games in HD for $39.95 (£24.58). All of the live NBA webcasts will feature play-by-play in English, and will be replayed on NBA.tv for 24 hours after they air. Some blackouts of live games will apply.
“As our exciting Playoffs season begins, we are thrilled to offer full live coverage of all postseason games online for the first time,” said Sophie Goldschmidt, Managing Director for the NBA in Europe, Middle East and Africa. “NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband International will reach fans online in more countries than ever before and provide another unique platform to follow their favorite teams and players throughout the Playoffs.”
The 2009 NBA Playoffs, will feature 39 international players from 22 countries including the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki (Germany), San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker (France), Utah Jazz’s Andrei Kirilenko (Russia), Chicago Bulls’ Luol Deng (Great Britain), Los Angeles Lakers’ Pau Gasol (Spain) and Sasha Vujacic (Slovenia), Houston Rockets’ Luis Scola (Argentina), Portland Trail Blazers’ Rudy Fernandez (Spain) and Orlando Magic’s Hedo Turkoglu (Turkey).
The live game webcasts will add to the league’s global audience reach, as NBA games and programming during the Playoffs will be televised in 215 countries and territories in 41 languages.
NBA LEAGUE PASS Broadband International is a subscription service that offers international fans access to more than 40 live NBA games online each week throughout the regular season on NBA.tv. The service was launched in nearly 20 countries and territories at the beginning of the 2008-09 NBA season and expanded to 75 by NBA All-Star.
