Sunset+Vine announced that it has won the contract to produce and distribute BADMINTON England’s major tournaments up to and including 2012.
The deal is an extension of the contract first signed in 2006, when the leading independent UK-based television company was engaged by BADMINTON England to oversee production and distribution of its showpiece events.
In the three years since, Sunset+Vine’s International Department has increased distribution of the Yonex All England Open Championships by 35 per cent. With Sky acting as the host broadcaster in the UK for the event, the tournament is shown on major broadcasters across the world including Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Denmark and Russia to name a few.
Nina Scales, Head of Sales and Marketing at Sunset+Vine said: “We are delighted for the opportunity to continue working in partnership with BADMINTON England and delivering what is an exhilarating and exciting sport to audiences all around the world.
“We have worked hard to give the sport the coverage it deserves, and will be looking to build on the last three years’ work.”
The deal means Sunset+Vine will oversee the production and distribution of the 2010 Yonex All England Open Championships, the sport’s longest-running and most prestigious tournament which celebrates its 100th competition next year.
The Championships, held in Birmingham, is regarded as the ‘Wimbledon of Badminton’ and attracts the world’s finest players.
Sunset+Vine will also be producing and distributing the European Individual Championships, staged in Manchester from April 13-18 in 2010, and will be producing the World Feed of the 2011 World Championships in London.
The Sunset+Vine production team has over 20 years' experience in Badminton, including producing coverage of the Olympic Games and World Championships.
Executive Producer Sarsfield Brolly said: “Over the years we have developed an internationally-renowned badminton production team that has worked on the Sydney Olympics, World Championships, Sudirman Cup, European Team Championships and the European Individual Championships as well as the Yonex All England Open Championships – the “Wimbledon” of Badminton.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with BADMINTON England and are excited about bringing what is a fast and furious sport to a new audience, as well as its existing fanbase.
“Sunset+Vine has always enjoyed a reputation for its creativity and innovation, and we’ll be employing the latest cutting edge technology to take the viewer right into the heart of the action.”
BADMINTON England’s Commercial Director, Fiona Young, said “Sunset+Vine has been a great partner in our endeavours to raise the profile and coverage of badminton both in the UK and abroad.
“With world class production and an experienced sales and distribution team we’re extremely.”
