British sportswear brand, Fred Perry has engaged independent sports specialist agency Pitch to undertake a consumer PR campaign which promotes a range of centenary year activity which the brand is undertaking to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the tennis legend’s birth.
Centenary year activity that Pitch will be activating will include maximizing the brand’s association with Andy and Jamie Murray.
Pitch has been appointed following a hugely successful campaign for the Fred Perry Urban Cup, a grass roots mass participation table tennis event for children. The project involved promotion of the event itself as well as activation of leading British table tennis star, Darius Knight, and resulted in extensive print and broadcast coverage across national media.
Pitch, part of the Sphere Network, is a creative communications consultancy that specializes in sponsorship and sport. The London-based agency was founded by Henry Chappell in 2002 with the backing of Matthew Freud.
Pitch’s clients have included major international brands involved in sport sponsorship such as Hugo Boss, Sony Ericsson, Skandia and Roxy; sports governing bodies and properties, such as the NBA, Chelsea FC and London Wasps; gaming organisations such as Betfair and Skybet; as well as sports and media brands including Canterbury and Perform.
