BAC technical official approves badminton venue for Asiad 18/05/2009

Mr Surasak Songvorakulpan (Thailand), Technical Official of the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) and Technical Delegate for Badminton in the Guangzhou Asian Games, inspected sports venues for badminton during the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.
Mr Songvorakulpan and staff from the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) and officials from the Chinese Badminton Association conducted a site survey of the Asian Games venue at Tianhe Sports Centre and expressed satisfaction for the renovation progress currently underway.
China, as one of the dominant sporting power in badminton, and Guangzhou, as a "City of Badminton" within China, have varied experience in organising mega sports. Mr Songvorakulpan said, "the ongoing Sudirman Cup once again confirmed to the world of Guangzhou's competency in holding a sporting occasion of truly internationally magnitude and looked forward to another badminton spectacle of sporting excellence during Guangzhou Asian Games."
Mr Songvorakulpan added, "I believe Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games will be a great success and BAC would definitely support GAGOC in preparation."
Currently 25 men's and 23 women's teams are entered into competition with 250 athletes for badminton during the Guangzhou Asian Games.
